How I can Help.

I help clients by having them tell me their story; what is their current experience and what have they done in the past. Together, we develop strategies to do things differently and move forward by using tools such as: solution focused questions, strategies from CBT, and Basic EMDR therapy. I have had clients tell me it’s helpful to talk to someone without judgement and find ways to cope with current issues.

My story.

Even as a young child, I was a helper, caring about others, sensitive and intuitive. I lived in a family dealing with alcoholism, and experienced how a family can move to recovery from this challenge. I went into social work naturally as a helper with experience. This later was defined as being empathetic and I continue to work on empathy for others who experience negative events in their life. My 28-year career in social work went from supporting families to managing staff in Family Services and currently in the health field. My private counselling practice has provided me an opportunity to work directly with people wanting to make changes in their lives.

Life outside the office.

My passion and purpose are to highlight mental health wellness, to help people to live in purpose, and to help people find ways to be present to experience happiness. I am married for over 30 years to an amazing self-employed accountant and we are continuing to be part of our adult boys’ lives. We added two whoodle dogs to our family. I plant small gardens in the summer and travel as much as I can in the fall and winter. I develop workshops and cohost retreats for women and men in Mexico and Costa Rica; combining my skills and expertise with my love for travel. I strive to stay healthy with nutritious eating, weights, spinning, walking the dogs and yoga. I continue to add new tools to my counselling practice such as EMDR and I am in certification to offer Equine assisted counselling. My dream is to own a horse, in the meantime, I collaborate with other women who offer similar work so I can spend time with herds of horses.
