Valerie Weaver

Clinical Social Worker (MSW, RSW - MB; LCSW-NY)

When we are able to be curious about ourselves, we can look at patterns and explore possibilities without shame or self-blame. My practice is a safe space to be curious about yourself, your experiences, your hopes and potential.  Through a strong therapeutic relationship, you will be supported to reflect and move beyond shame and guilt toward growth, change, and a more satisfying life.

Before moving to Manitoba, I worked as a therapist in New York City for over a decade. I have experience working with individuals and families aged 0 to 94, dealing with issues related to trauma, loss, change and social oppression.

In addition to my Master’s Degree in Social Work, I am a candidate in training with the CFS Psychoanalytic Institute in NYC. Psychoanalysis values listening to our minds as a means of healing our hearts. I am also trained in Group-Based Attachment Intervention (Attachment-based parenting therapy) and Brainspotting (a newer alternative to EMDR).

Going through something but not ready or interested in starting therapy? A tarot reading can help bring clarity to challenging life phases. My tarot readings are not predictive (I will not tell you your future), but they offer a creative and intuitive way to approach life difficulties. I utilize the Wild Unknown deck by Kim Krans. Tarot sessions are not covered by insurances.
